Creating a visual identity for a music ensemble! Note Bene Baroque Players is an ensemble formed to perform music from the 17th and 18th century, bringing to its audience performances on authentic or replica instruments. In 2021 they formally changed their name to Note Bene Players and Singers to incorporate the period voices, now a regular part of their performances.
Approaching Studio Locale for a new logo for the new name, the goal was to keep some of the tradition and history, while also appearing more modern to reflect their evolving audience. The new visual brand incorporates elements of their name, as well as musical elements like a staff and notes. For the identity, we shortened players and singers to simply “Play Sing”, making the mark much more action oriented. This also gave the logo needed flexibility across their marketing materials including their website, posters, and programs.
